Enemies

Out here in the sand

when you don’t know who’s the Enemy and who’s a friend

and it f**ks with your head,

It’s hard to tell

What you’re fighting for

By the fourth tour,

When you’ve seen the Enemy’s father ask

“Why have you Killed my son?”

then you come and you tell Me

Who won

Thank you Amir. I wrote this poem about how many soldiers feel in Wars, fighting for causes that they aren’t even too sure they believe in. After all, our Enemies are only a product of our own selfishness and greed-driven instincts; war is of human design
