Back to reality

You’re gonna start a family

You’re only 16

What has this life

Done to you?

Crying In the Bathroom

They talk uncomfortably

about the way things should be

and small-town gossip

and big-world dreams,

after the insanity is ended

and hot-heads still steam,

Cold dinner on a plate

push it with the fork,

still tastes like hate

It’s hard to swallow

when collie-flower tastes

like sorrow;

Push in your chair

and walk up the stair

Your friend walks past and you

smile although

he knows

that the tears are impending

but he’s pretending not to see

the fragile autocracy

of an independent heart

broken to pieces,

fallen apart.

The facade of a grin

and the Everything’s fine

while you’re screaming within

and losing you Mind-

What a curious condition

that only Man can find;

withholding emotion

to shut out assistance

intriguing resistance

to a fight that is not there!

but up you go

to the top of the stair

and tell your family

that you don’t care,

nothing’s the matter

while inside you steadily

become sadder,

and you feel

sick to the core

just thinking about it,

close the bathroom door

(gently as to not make a fuss)

and you make sure it’s secure

before

you start to cry

the weight of the world

took a rest on your chest

and as you cry

you come to realize

That Man is a solitary creature

Others

In deepest Night,

when all are asleep

is when they come,

up the flight

of shadow-stair

silent and fleet

Cloaked in black,

Quiet as the breath

of a slumbering child,

Down the Hall,

soundlessly gliding

Quietly

into the bed-chambers

of my family

And there they stand,

not breathing, sensationless

Diabolic yet infinitely patient

standing

staring from shadowed faces

no eyes but still they are watching,

in Deepest night

the clock reads three

I am awake, eyes squeezed

Shut

but

I know there is one standing,

and its

Looking

at me.

A Prayer For Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve when eyelids sink and Head does Nod, I look out my window to Behold my God, On quiet Night, beneath Perfect Sky, Is time to remember Those who cry,  And send out a Prayer for those Victims of Injustice and what is not ‘Fair’, those without a family With which this Night to Share, Let them know they are not Forgotten On Eve of Day ere Christ’s begotten. Those who suffer Mental illness or battle the demons of addiction and those infirmed with physical ailment or affliction give tender love and care and do not let their hearts despair, and to those who live where danger Fear and Violence reign, ease their sorrows, Woes and pain, this Christmas Eve remember those who had to leave and go up to that quiet sky, rejoice in those who live in memory of those who die, and let those who are Invisible be seen, to highest thrones lift them from shameful slums unclean, As I drift off to sleep, these secret hopes my Heart will keep this Christmas Eve I pray, let all the World behold

A glorious Christmas Day
